Derived from the legendary 3C series, it was designed at a time when Laverda was seeking to establish itself in the competitive high-displacement motorcycle segment, rivalling the major Japanese and European brands.

Equipped with a 981cc inline three-cylinder engine with double camshafts and air cooling, the 3CL offered power close to 80 horsepower, capable of providing vigorous acceleration and a top speed of over 200 km/h.

The characteristic sound of its three-cylinder engine became one of the brand’s most recognisable signatures. The designation ‘CL’ stood for ‘Cerchio Lega’ (alloy wheels), a novelty compared to the 3C version, which used spoked wheels. The motorbike also featured Brembo disc brakes, superior suspension and excellent finishes, reflecting Laverda’s craftsmanship.

The Laverda 1000 3CL consolidated the brand’s reputation as a manufacturer of high-performance motorbikes with meticulous engineering, and is now one of the most highly valued models among enthusiasts of the great Italian machines of the 1970s.
