The popularity of pedal power grew very rapidly from the 1800s, and by the second decade of the 1900s manufacturers were plenty.

Because of this, it can be difficult to place the origins of a lot of early bicycles. This Children’s tricycle, with its 30cm rear wheel and 40cm front wheel and fitted with solid rubber tyres is likely to have been manufactured in Portugal during the period of the 1920s.

Donated to the Museu do Caramulo by Pedro Lacerda Correia de Barros.
