The Founders’ Run by Cartrack, a celebration of the golden age of motor racing, kicks off this Friday

24 September, 2025

The Founders’ Run by Cartrack sets off this Friday, 26 September, bringing together pre-war cars and motorcycles built up to 1939 for an authentic celebration of the golden age of motoring.

With participants from Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, the tour showcases a remarkable line-up of marques such as Bentley, Bugatti, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Packard, Pontiac and Wolseley, alongside several long-defunct names, taking to the road in cars and motorcycles over a century old.

The event begins on Friday in Figueira da Foz, where the Clube de Automóveis Antigos da Figueira da Foz (CAAFF) will welcome participants for the traditional Prova de Perícia by Shell. On Saturday, the convoy heads south, passing through Alcobaça before arriving in Torres Vedras, where it will be received by the Oeste Clássicos team. The final stage takes place on Sunday, with stops at the National Palace of Mafra and the gardens of Casino Estoril, before finishing in Lisbon, at Belém, where the vehicles will be put on display.

As in previous editions, along the route participants will be greeted by several local classic car clubs, joining in this historic celebration.

The Founders’ Run by Cartrack is organised by the Museu do Caramulo, in partnership with the CPAA and CAACB clubs, and is supported by Cartrack, Shell, EMEL, Turismo do Centro, BPI – Fundação la Caixa, and the municipalities of Figueira da Foz, Torres Vedras, Mafra, Cascais and Lisbon.
